How did you get interested in photography?
My father is an amateur photographer, so growing up I was always exposed to this creative outlet. He taught me how to use the camera and also how to look at everyday things in many different ways. While growing up I loved taking pictures of everything (mostly of the family dog!), but I never really thought of it as a profession until I took some photos at my brother-in-law’s wedding. I loved the rush of emotions felt throughout the day; anticipation, nervousness, poignancy, and the feeling of total bliss and happiness. I am excited about every shoot we do and I love meeting new people and creating special memories for them.
What do you enjoy about photography?
I enjoy photography because it about creating memories. I love sharing photo albums with people and exchanging the stories behind the pictures. I love the idea of helping someone enjoy their special day for the rest of their lives, and knowing that they will be telling their stories through their photographs.
What do you think makes a great photo?
An amazing photo is one where the emotions captured tell the story. Lighting and location aside, the picture is meant to tell a story and stories are best told through simple emotions. Tears, laughter and surprises; as long as it’s real, it’s beautiful.
What do you like to do when you’re not photographing?
When I’m not shooting or learning something new about photography I am usually found in one of two places; behind a computer or the kitchen! My background is in graphic design and I love to create things for people, but I am also an avid cook. Whether I am using the mouse or a spatula, it all means the same thing to me; being creative and using my imagination.
