While Nick was with the girls, I was with Dmitry and the guys at his parents house.  His grandparents were the sweetest

We started their portraits at Garry Point with a First Look.

After the portraits, we all headed up to Cypress for their ceremony and reception at the beautiful Cypress Creek Lodge.

I love the expressions on their faces, especially Dmitry’s.  Even though he had already seen her during their first look and the portraits, he’s still saying to himself, “Wow, she’s amazingly beautiful, and I’m going to marry her!”

Look at how intently Dmitry’s mom is watching ceremony.  Her little grin tells you everything she’s thinking

Let’s Party!  One of the big attractions during their reception was a vodka bar!  It was busy from the moment it opened and probably until the very end of the night too!

The dancing was so contagious and abundant that we had a hard time finding the new Mr. & Mrs. to say our farewells!  Congratulations Nadine & Dmitry on a spectacular wedding.

*Just a note about doing a A First Look*  It is a fantastic idea if you aren’t too concerned with the groom seeing you before the ceremony.  It allows you to spend more time with your guests after the ceremony since most or all of your bridal portraits have already been taken.  It also adds an extra layer of excitement for your wedding .

That phrase certainly sums up Iona & Alston!  I don’t think that I ever saw these two not smiling, laughing or grinning at each other   It was obvious that this saying was important to them because when we arrived at the church we found their friends getting all of the arriving guests (including us!) to take a picture with a sign that said just that   It was a perfectly sunny day too, so there wasn’t a shortage of smiles that day!

I think Iona’s smile is contagious!

Portrait time, but first a little detour for some ice cream!  It was such a nice warm day and since the ice cream truck was already there, they thought – why not?  Totally cool with us!  Tony the ice cream truck driver was super surprised at the line up but welcomed it with his congratulations for the couple!

After the portraits were done, Iona & Alston called for their ride to their reception hall -  a bike pedaled cart!  So cute and super earth-friendly too since Heritage Hall was only a few blocks away.

Congratulations Iona & Alston!  Thank you for inviting us in on your big day!

I started my day with the girls getting ready at the Cherry Blossom Bed & Breakfast in Kerrisdale, while Nick took off to the Landis Hotel downtown for the guys. I don’t go to Bed & Breakfasts very often, but I think I might have to because this place was insanely gorgeous and a wonderful way to relax. It certainly showed because Ali & her girls were calm and collected the entire morning.

Okay, I think I’m going to break my promise about keeping the image count in check…  But really, it’s not a bad broken promise

I just have to take a minute to point out how awesome Ali is. While she was getting her hair done, she says to me, “I was wondering if I got in the tub if it would be a great picture…” I almost fell over because I was thinking of ways to ask her to get into the tub for some portraits! With a few minutes left before running out the door she climbed in and I snapped away…

Now while the girls were relaxing in style…so were the guys – with a pedicure! The guys really enjoyed it and had a bit of fun with it too! When they met up with the girls later, they remarked on why they were never let in on the whole Spa experience before….

Portraits!

Ali, you are so beautiful

Their ceremony & reception were held in the Uber Lounge at Steamworks Brewing Company and also in the lobby of The Landing (which is right next door).  They had a cocktail-style reception which was fabulous because they could mix and mingle with all of their guests with ease.

Ali & Simon had a bit of fun with their cupcake tower!  I really could not help but laugh – a lot!

Ali & Simon, Nick and I had a fabulous time photographing your wedding and meeting all of your friends and family. Congratulations on everything both of you have achieved so far and for everything you have yet to reach in the future
