Back when I got married, 5 and a half years ago, film was still king of the photography world. All our photos were done with film. I still have the rather large proof sheets. Back then, digital photography was still quite young. In fact, to this day compared to film, digital is still young. Since then, however, a LOT has changed. Megapixel count has gone really high, image sensors have become a lot more sensitive and accurate, and the cameras are getting fancier and fancier.

A few months ago, Channel 5 (UK I believe) ran a segment comparing today’s digital camera technology to film cameras on their show “The Gadget Show”. It’s pretty cool what they did, actually.

Check it out

As you can see, no longer is film wearing the crown.

Now this photo is by no means recent (MANY years old, my Dad would know for sure), and it’s certainly not a digital image (taken with my Dad’s old film camera and then scanned it) but it is one of my favourites. This is a photo of my Great Uncle Will on one of his visits from England. What I like most about this image is what I learned from it: how to relax and be patient, and how to become invisible to the subject.
